Doggy days in Devon

With Devon as the destination there is no need to find a dog sitter, there is something for everyone. We all know how important it is to get time to escape the monotony of daily life and spend quality time together as a family. As adults we need to relax and recharge, the kids need the freedom to roam and reignite their imaginations and our furry friends relish the chance to follow their nose and see where their paws lead them!

The National Trust has a large presence across Devon and Cornwall and many of the locations are dog friendly, providing welcoming cafes, shady parking spaces, water drinking bowls and hitching posts. Whether you chose to explore rugged coastlines, enchanting woodlands or places of historic interest, The National Trust has it all. For example, you can visit Agatha Christie’s former holiday home, Greenway and explore the network of paths through the beautiful gardens. Or enjoy a walk through the Teignmouth Gorge around the 20th Century Drogo Castle.

However, plenty of other attractions will pander to your pooches. Located close to Torquay, Babbacombe Model Village provides a fun and unique day out and is set in beautiful gardens. Dogs are welcome throughout the gardens and indoor displays but must be kept on a lead.

A day at the beach is perfect for a family fun day. Many beaches across Devon welcome our furry friends from Woolacombe to Sidmouth. Restrictions may apply in the summer months and it is always advisable to check signs at these beaches when you arrive as some have specific areas designated for dogs.

For those days where you want to stay closer to home you can still get their tails wagging with one of these recipes (https://www.care.com/c/dog-ice-cream-recipes). After all, no holiday is complete without indulging in an ice cream or two!
