Fishing on Roadford Lake

Our lodges are lucky enough to be situated just 100m from Roadford Lake – a man-made reservoir fed by the River Wolf. One of the many activities available through South West Lakes Trust, is of course fishing! Roadford is one of the best brown trout fisheries in the UK and is regularly stocked. The Reservoir, which is more than 130 feet deep, also boasts a large head of Perch with fish well over 3lbs having been caught in the past. The current season record for the largest fish was a brown trout weighing in at just over 6lb! On offer is traditional bank and boat fishing as well the lesser widely available kayak and float tube fishing. Regardless of how you choose to cast your line, you will not be disappointed thanks to the stunning scenery surrounding you.

Whilst many enjoy fishing as a way to relax and unwind, it has been well documented as being good for physical and mental health. Imagine being able to hang up your “Gone Fishing” sign as often as you like and walk the short distance from your holiday home to the peaceful surroundings of Roadford Lake – perhaps you will even catch the new season best!
