The best dog-friendly places to eat near Roadford Lake Lodges

As a pet-friendly holiday park, many of our luxury lodge owners and holidaymakers come to Roadford Lake Lodges with their beloved dogs. We know how important it is to find a nice place to eat after an exciting day of adventures with your four-legged friend. So, we thought it would be helpful to recommend our favourite places to eat in the local area that welcome dogs.

Roadford Lake Café

A firm favourite with many of our guests is the Roadford Lake Café, which is just a short stroll away from our luxury lodge development. They offer a tasty menu from breakfast through til lunch, with delicious treats such as cake and locally made ice-cream. They have a wonderful gift shop, selling local items and produce. For holiday makers wanting to enjoy a breakfast roll on their morning walk or stop for a warming hot chocolate, Lakeside Café is the perfect place to go. They provide watering bowls for dogs, so your pup won’t get thirsty while you tuck into your food!

Bratton Clovelly & Clovelly Inn

Just a short drive from Roadford Lake Lodges you’ll find the delightful Bratton Clovelly and the charming 18th century Clovelly Inn pubs, well known with the locals for their classic pub menus. Our tip for this wonderful place is to leave room for dessert, as they have a fantastic selection of desserts. Fancy enjoying your dessert back at your lodge? If you bring your own dish, they can provide takeaway puddings, which are perfect the following day with a mid-morning coffee!

The Springer Spaniel

A little further afield but still within easy access is The Springer Spaniel, another pet-friendly local delight which dates back to 1815. It’s a traditional pub offering home cooked meals with a cosy log burner, perfect for warming up on a winter’s day. With a menu that features fresh local produce, we highly recommend visiting on a Sunday for a traditional Sunday roast. They offer a wonderful selection of cocktails too should you fancy a tipple…

Strawberry Fields

Throughout the warmer months, or if you’re just popping in for a quick stop, there are a few local venues that welcome dogs onsite but not within the main restaurants. For a local stop off point, we highly recommend visiting the local farm shop of Strawberry Fields in Lifton. They have a restaurant, an impressive farm shop featuring their own Deli, Butchery and Bakery, a classic gift shop which stocks local gifts, produce, drinks and much more. There is an outdoor seating area where dogs are permitted and offers the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon tea al fresco.

Tre, Pol & Pen

Another wonderful place to visit is Tre, Pol & Pen, another farm shop with the kitchen being at the heart of the building. They offer wonderful breakfasts, cream teas and scrumptious crispy pizzas. Visit on a Friday for their ‘Pizza Fridays’ stone baked, hand stretched and topped with the finest fresh ingredients. With a wonderful outdoor terrace, you can eat and drink in the company of your beloved pets. There is also a field at the top of the car park where visitors are welcome to let their dogs exercise, which is perfect for a quick stop to break up the journey when you’re heading back to your lodge from an adventurous day out.
